LET THE STORY BE YOUR GUIDE...

MEDIA GUIDES FOR EVENTS

Does your media guide include just the facts - background, event schedules, and photo ops for the media?

It should contain all of these things, of course. But if you’re only distributing event basics, you’re missing an opportunity.

A good media guide includes the stories BEHIND the event.

Spotlight stories that give editors a REASON to send someone to your event.

The best media guides are FILLED with spotlight stories, or pitches and press tips in other forms. They’re PAGE TURNERS, and if you’ve managed to catch the attention of a journalist with one, the best guides make said journalist want to stay at your event from start to finish, afraid to leave and miss another story.

Perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration. But in a hyper-competitive media world where column inches and broadcast hours are steadily shrinking, and news more and more consists of the same tired stories played on repeat, a good spotlight story in a media guide can make the difference between your event receiving media coverage or going unnoticed.
